1 Timothy 6:8
“If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content”
In every direction we turn we face something or someone telling us that we can or should have more. More food, clothes, house, fun, money, stuff, beauty…the list goes on. The one thing we rarely hear is that we should be more content. More satisfied with what we have been blessed with, instead of fixing our eyes and heart on the next thing.
The Bible urges us to be content in every circumstance and with what we have so that we do not find ourselves lusting after worldly possessions, coveting or jealous. It protects us from distractions that lead us away from God.
Do not be fooled by things disguised as ambition or held captive by the lure of success. Ask God to search your heart and show you any areas that you are not content in. Allow what He has freely and mercifully blessed you with to be enough.
