Grace for Greatness
By: Sharisse Scott
Ever have a million things to do and so little time to do them?
Are there times where your “to-do” list looks more like a “can’t-do” list?
Ever get discouraged because you feel like each day that you don’t do something is a wasteful, not so productive day?
I recently dealt with this feeling and I received the most simplest advice from someone: Give yourself grace. We all strive to be great whether it’s for our families, friends, loved ones or even ourselves. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be there for the ones we love but we have to realize that some things just can’t be done overnight or all at once and we have to give ourselves grace to succeed.
We have to stop being so hard on ourselves especially about things beyond our control and remember that God is in control of it all. God doesn’t want us to feel like failures. He wants us to be great in all that we do and joyous in doing so, but He also wants us to depend on Him in all that we do because His grace is sufficient for us all.
Once we allow ourselves to flow under God’s grace, we will be able to fully operate in the Spirit of greatness.
1 Corinthians 15:10 (NIV)
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
Ephesians 4:7 (NIV)
“But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.”
Commit it to Prayer
Please help me to remember to depend on Your Grace, especially when I feel like I’m failing. Help me to know and understand that You have everything in control and because of that, I can always have greatness in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Start a Grace Challenge with yourself and maybe even a few friends. Vow to give yourself grace to accomplish the tasks you set forth to complete. Meditate on Scriptures that will strengthen you through your Grace-ful journey. Share with family and friends to encourage them.
